2009 12X36 TRIO

Sustain is proud to present the 12X36 TRIO. The 12X36 TRIO was designed with special consideration for passive cooling and ventilation in a range of temperate to hot climates. The TRIO has 10′ ceilings, and a larger Master Bedroom than our other 12WIDE models.
- The new 12X36 Floorplan Features a larger Master Bedroom, with over 10' ceiling height
- The 12X36's distinctive butterfly roof collects rainwater to a central downspout, which can be stored in an optional cistern.
- The North Elevation features an inset entry niche
- Stainless Steel trim and window surrounds provide an elegant, durable detail. The Exterior is clad in 100% FSC-certified Western Red Cedar rainscreen.
- Solar shading canopies reject unwanted Summer heat
- Transom windows over the sliding patio doors exhaust hot air up high, encouraging cool air in from the North Elevation for optimal 'night-time' passive cooling.
- Canadian Maple Aya kitchens are standard on all models. Cabinets are 100% FSC certified, formaldehyde-free, with soft-close and anti-slam hardware. All drawers are made from dove-tail, plywood boxes for a quality and durability.

The 12X36 features 12VDC Lighting Circuits, and a AC/DC Power Center for ‘plug-and-play’ connection to renewable power sources, such as Solar (PV) and wind. Optional multi-fuel (biodiesel) systems are available. All woods are FSC certified and formaldehyde-free. For more information - please download our specifications sheet here.

No one has left a comment yet? I think this house looks great inside and out.
These homes just get better and better — beauty and function rolled into one. (My only problem is figuring out where I would put it.)
Andy, keep up the great work. Looking forward to hearing about the Ontario open house. I hope that’s Ontario Canada?
Right - Ontario, Canada - about 1.5hrs. East of Toronto. We’ll announce the open house as soon as we finish the interiors!
What I miss from the first generation design is that in the new ones the loft is gone. There is one less discrete space — room if you will — in the house which makes it much less flexible even if there is more square footage… With two people living there it is really important to be able to have a separate place to work
Guy - the ‘LOFT’ is now a completely separate module - in fact there is a whole series of modules that can allow numerous configurations of spaces. The SOLO was too small for 90% of the people that were considering it as a primary residence - whereas the new design accomodates year-round living requirements. Please look up the model here: http://www.sustain.ca/2009/02/26/12×33loft/
I’d love to see more photographs, inside and out, instead of computer renderings. Now that one is actually built, when can we expect to see these? Or, if they’re already posted on the site, where? Thanks.
